January 27, 2022: Plant of the Week- Tellima grandiflora (Fringecup)
Tellima grandiflora, or Fringecup, is a perennial that can grow from 1-3 ft tall. It can be found along forest edges, stream banks or damp woods; growing in moist to well drained soil with full to part shade. You can recognize this plant by its hairy, heart shaped leaves that turn a bright orange, pink or red in the fall! The small, white, fragrant flowers bloom April through July, and the seed pods are round that form after the flower dies. Fringecup is great for you garden as it is easy and fast growing, while bees and other pollinators get to enjoy them.
