February 10, 2022: Plant of the Week- Calocedrus decurrens
Calocedrus decurrens or Incense Cedar is an evergreen tree that can grow up to 200 ft tall. They grow best in full to part sun with well drained to dry soil, found mostly in Oregon and California. The bark is brown, but turns to a gray brown as it ages; and the foliage is flat and scale like with green branches. The flowers are small, yellow, and cone shape that form at the end of branches, while brown cones form in the fall and last all winter. This tree is great for super dry areas and grows slowly.
