May 5 2022: Plant of the Week- Saxifraga ferruginea (Rusty Saxifrage)
The Saxifraga ferruginea, the Rusty Saxifrage is an evergreen perennial, that grows from 6 to 20 inches tall. This plant’s natural habitat is a moist rocky area, and grows best in moist to well drained soil, with full to part sun. The leaves are oval shaped, toothed, and hairy that form in a whorl on the ground. There are many small, white flowers that form on a long flower stock. If you like chicken and hens plants, or sedums, this plant is for you!
