Prunus emarginata - Bitter Cherry

Product Details

Height: This small deciduous tree can grow from 10 to 50 ft. tall and can be single or multi trunked.

Habitat: Grows best in moist to well drained soil in full to part sun.

Foliage: Alternate, oval, finely toothed, green leaves

Flowers: White to pinkish, 5 petaled with notches or lobes in petal, almond scented flowers form clusters of 5-10 and bloom April to June.

Fruits: Small bright red cherries.

Bark: Shiny purple to reddish-brown or grey; pronounced horizontal lines or lenticels.

Natural Habitat: Found in thickets to mountains in disturbed area to open woods.

Why is it good for my garden? Bitter cherry is a pretty cherry blossom tree that grows well in most areas. Bright berries are loved by birds. Evening Grosbeak enjoy these berries a lot.
