Height: This perennial can grow from 6 to 8 inches tall.
Habitat: Grows best in dry to sandy soil in full sun.
Foliage: Small lance shaped, silvery green leaves grow in a circular fan shaped cluster in a mat close to the ground.
Flowers: Small blue to violet flowers grow in a large long spike cluster bloom June through August.
Fruits: Hairy gray seed pods form after flower fades.
Natural Habitat: Found from sagebrush plains to ponderosa forests, in Oregon, Califonia, and Nevada.
Why is it good for my garden? Lupine is a great plant easy to grow and grows pretty fast. The beautiful large flowers attract pollinators. Note that the seed are poisonous to human and livestock.
