Height: This perennial can grow from 1 to 4 ft tall.
Habitat: Grows best in dry to well drained soil in full to part sun.
Foliage: Lanced shaped, dissected, fern like leaves, are gray green to silvery.
Flowers: Small yellow to brownish purple flowers form in clusters at the end of small stems off of flower stocks blooming April through June.
Natural Habitat: Found in dry open areas from low land to the mountains.
Why is it good for my garden? This delicate perennial is great for a dry area or in a rock garden. This pretty little perennial will bring in all sorts of pollinators especially early season since it blooms early. The roots of this plant were traditionally harvested for food and can be eaten raw or cooked.
