Height: This rhizomatous perennial grass can grow to 4 ft. tall.
Habitat: Grows best in well drained to sandy soil in full sun. Drought tolerant and salt spray.
Foliage: Flat, tough, blue green blades.
Flowers (Inflorescence): Yellow brown and bloom in June through August.
Fruits: Seed heads are brown.
Natural Habitat: Found along the coast in sand dunes, along the beach shore and in gravely areas.
Why is it good for my garden? This industrial strength perennial grass works best on saltwater shorelines to battle aggressive weeds and works well in parking strips where it will stay confined. The rhizomes on this plant are very strong and will help with erosion.
