Height: This evergreen shrubby tree can grow to 30 ft. tall but very slowly.
Habitat: Grows best in dry, full to part sun areas. Drought tolerant.
Foliage: Green to blue green, fragrant needles or scales.
Flowers: Very small yellow flowers.
Fruits: Blue, oval shaped hard pods form after flower, and turns into a open brown cone with seeds in May to June.
Bark: Scaly or rough, brown to red brown bark.
Natural Habitat: Found along the coast and islands to low mountain areas.
Why is it good for my garden? With the coloring, flower/cones and fragrance of the juniper it makes a nice evergreen with year round beauty. Slow growing so makes a great container plant or small specimen in the yard. Birds enjoy the cones.
