Height: This grass called a rush and grows from rhizomes to about 2 ft. tall.
Habitat: Grows best in moist to wet soil and full to part sun.
Foliage: Wide, green, iris like blades on this plant have veins running both vertically and horizontally if you look through them in the sun.
Flowers (Inflorescence): Many small purple brown flowers form a cluster that can look like a sphere and many of these clusters to a plant.
Fruits: Brown oblong capsules.
Natural Habitat: Found in moist areas in meadows and along ditches.
Why is it good for my garden? This rush supports moth and butterflies.
