Height: Evergreen tree may be able to grow to 150 ft.
Habitat: Grows best in full to part sun in moist to a dry area.
Foliage: Alternate dark green oblong leaves that are yellow and fuzzy on the bottom side.
Flowers: White catkin flowers look like small bottle brushes.
Fruits: Spiky husked seed pod.
Bark: Thick and furrowed bark.
Natural Habitat: Found in a limited areas in open wooded areas from coastal to mid elevation.
