Height: Large perennial rhizomatous sedge up to 1 ft. tall.
Habitat: Grows best in full sun and well drained soil. This sedge can tolerate salt spray or brackish areas.
Foliage: Green leaves get a brown to yellow tip and they grow and age.
Flowers (Inflorescence): Spikes of green that turn dark brown to purple brown extend upward at top of spike and hang down on the lower flowers.
Fruits: This sedge produces seed.
Natural Habitat: Found along coastal marshes in brackish areas.
Why is it good for my garden? This is a great plant if you have a brackish (wet area that has both salt water and fresh water flowing through) area.
