Product Details

Height: This evergreen tree can grow from 30 to 100 ft. tall.

Habitat: Grows best in moist to dry soil in full to part sun. Slow growing tree.

Foliage: Thin, lance shaped, green needles form all the way around branches.

Fruits: Dark almost purple colored egg shaped cones form and turn brown with age.

Bark: Dark purplish to reddish brown, groves, bark.

Natural Habitat: Found mostly at high elevations.

Why is it good for my garden? Mountain hemlock is a fantastic specimen tree, slowest growing evergreen. This tree can be used for a container plant. At elevation can be stunted or contorted because of all the snow on the branches. This tree is used by wildlife for food and habitat. The Hairy Woodpecker forages on the branches of these beautiful trees.
