October 6, 2022: Plant of the Week- Tolmiea menziesii (Piggy-back Plant)
The Tollmiea menziesii, or the Piggy-back Plant, is a perennial that can grow from 1 to 2 feet tall. It’s found in moist wooded areas, and grows best in moist to well drained soil with full to part shade. The leaves are oval shaped, lobed, and toothed, while the flowers can be found from purple green, to green brown that grow along a stock that bloom May through August. This plant will attract pollinators, and is fast growing!
