Height: This ground cover grows from 6 to 12 inches and can spread to 15 ft.

Habitat: Grows well in a full sun to part shade, low moisture, dry rocky, or sandy, acidic soils.

Foliage: Alternate, leathery, evergreen paddle shaped leaves that turn red in winter.

Flowers: Pink to whitish urn-shaped flowers form terminal clusters and bloom March to June.

Fruits: Red berries

Bark: Brown bark that peels when it gets older.

Natural Habitat: Widespread.

Why is it good for my garden? This is a great woody groundcover is a hardy shrub for landscaping rocky, sandy, or well-drained full sun sites. These berries are edible, though mealy and tasteless, but do attract birds and other wildlife. Leaves have been used for tea.
