Attractive shrub/small tree, to 20ft. tall. Cluster of red berries. Prefers moist to well-drained soil, part to full sun.

Height: This deciduous shrub can grow from 6 to 20 ft. tall.

Habitat: Grows best in moist to well drained soil in full to part sun.

Foliage: Opposite, lance shaped, serrated, green leaves.

Flowers: Plums of many, small, white flowers bloom March through July.

Fruits: Small, bright red, round berries form in cone shaped cluster.

Bark: Reddish brown to brown bark with blisters on it.

Natural Habitat: Found from field to forests in wet areas.

Why is it good for my garden? Red elderberry is a great shrub with feathery flowers and bright red berries, easy to grow and quick growing. Wildlife enjoy this plant as well. Red-breasted Sapsuckers love these berries.
