Product Details

Height: This dense rhizominous evergreen sedge grows up to 1 ft tall.

Habitat: Grows well in full sun to partial shade in moist soil to standing water; tolerates brackish, often saline coastal wetlands, though prefers fresh water.

Foliage: Upright, angled stems.

Flowers (Inflorescence): Cluster of flower spikes accompanied by a long leaflike bract blooms in April to July.

Fruits: These seeds droop and are generally dark in color.

Natural Habitat: Western North America; wet, often saline habitat; wetlands; lower elevations west of the Cascades.

Why is it good for my garden? This native sedge is great to help control erosion, especially along stream- banks, spreads readily, and provides food for many wildlife species.
